Fall outfits 2013: High school chic

The second outfit was more casual, high school-like. This is what Susan is used to wearing on daily basis.

The base is black again – as it allows you to combine multiple colors later. Susan is wearing black tights with black shorts made out of another pair of high and thicker tights (DIY coming later). Not only does it keep you warm, it gives you some extra hold that one layer of tights never would and as a bonus, the only person that sees your underwear is the one present when you take your clothes off.

Tip: If you want to wear tights instead of regular pants, put two pairs on top of each other. It will be warmer, it will give you better hold and it won`t let your underwear show.

On top she put a bit oversized black sweater that provides you with enough warmth on days when you don`t feel like wearing a jacket.  To brighten the outfit up, she added a beanie and as you might have noticed, it is an absolute hit of this season, often worn by for example Cara Delevingne (doesn`t Susan even look like her?). If it looks good on you, now is the time to wear it!!

To accentuate the color of the beanie, she picked a purse with the same shade of red and she finished the look with light brown ankle shoes, a great fall piece. A must here are thick woolen sock that absolutely need to show when you`re wearing lower shoes. It adds a different pattern and dimension to the chic overall look.

Tip: No-one expects you to have twenty pairs of thick woolen socks, I personally only own two pairs. My solution to this is wearing another pair of socks under the woolen ones. I keep these near the shoes and wear them only outside, that way they don`t get grose and you can reuse them once or twice.

Fall outfits 2013: Casual and cozy outfit

With the articles I am going to go chronologically with the video and so this is the first one:

The base of this outfit (and most of my following outfits) is a simple tight long-sleeved black dress. I paired it with a brown tweed jacket that I left open so that the outfit would look more casual.

Tip: If you have formal jackets, you can easily turn them into neutral pieces that instantly dress up your outfit – just don`t close them. As soon as you close the buttons on such jacket, you look professional which is wonderful in some occasions but it prevents you from using more casual accessories.

On top I added a big round fluffy scarf. I personally love those, they are cozy, yet statement pieces that draw attention to the outfit. The overall color strategy with this outfit was to go with autumn colors on neutral (black) base. They accentuate the nice colorful part of autumn and make you feel as if there was no such thing as the autumn fog or rain.

The last part of my outfit are these brick red tights and rain boot-like leather boots. The thought behind this choice was to bring the outfit together by having the same color on top (scarf) and on the bottom (tights). These simple boots are the absolute hit of this season and I love them unconditionally. They make a wonderful statement yet functional piece. You can go ahead and jump into puddles; these will make sure to keep you worm and dry.

Tip: I am wearing tights here but what you don`t see are my thick woolen socks. If you don`t have to take your shoes off at work or at school and you do live in a cold environment, this can literally save your life. Just be sure you don`t have a date later that night or run and take them off in a bathroom. As much as I love them, I think my partner would appreciate them about as much as Bridget Jones` gigantic shaping underwear.

That will be all from me today. Hope you find this useful, be sure to let me know in the comments below.

Fall outfits 2013

My wonderful Susan finished the video to the music of our beloved Philip Philips. My plan is to show you this video as a preview of the coming up articles.

From now on, I will upload an article with one or two of the outfits in detail daily. These articles will contain much more detailed pictures so you have a better idea of how the outfits were thrown together or where the pieces came from.

Hope you enjoy our fall edition!

Spoiler alert - videos are coming!

Thanks to Zuzka (Susie), we are upgrading! Not only will you see pictures and articles, we are moving on to videos!!

With a bit of luck; we have been struggling with technology; we should be uploading later today. The theme of our first video is fall fashion.

Just so you know we have been taking the pictures, filming and yes, also changing, in a park in our hometown and no, it hasn`t been warm outside for the last 2 months at least. I hope you`ll appreciate our sacrifice!

How to preserve nail polishes

Despite recent trend of displaying all of your nail polishes (as if it was something to be proud of that we have no self control) it is absolutely the worst you can do.
If you are like me and own more than 30 nail polishes you are probably not able to use up all of them in 6 months or so. And my heart hurts throwing them away. Therefore I discovered a couple things that help to preserve your nail polishes and believe it or not they last 3-4 years! And I do have a couple that I have been using for over 5 years and I never spent more than four bucks for a nail polish.

My tips:
  1. Store all of your nail polishes in a dark place.
  2. Preferably store your nail polishes in a dry place.
  3. If you find a can, jar/box that doesn`t let much air in, that`s ideal.
  4. Every 3 months or so, go ahead and clean the top with a nail polish remover. Nail polish dries unevenly, naturally, and so it causes the top not protect the nail polish from air, therefore it hardens and you could throw it away. Cleaning it is a pain but the result is worth it.

I personally store all of my nail polishes in 2 really big metal cans with plastic fitted tops. It`s worked wonderfully. Hope this helped! Be sure to let me know in the comments below.
